Alberta Identification Program

Identification Program - All eligible applicants will meet with the ID Coordinator to review documents required to obtain their basic Alberta identification. Once sufficient documentation is obtained, the client and coordinator will then meet to discuss funding options for the ID and complete the process at registries. The coordinator works collaboratively with Alberta Human Services to assist the individuals in obtaining their ID.

In order for a client to participate in this program they must meet the following criteria:

  • Be 18 +
  • Be a resident of Alberta for at least three months
  • Be homeless or recently housed

Services provided by the Alberta ID program include:

  • Obtaining original documentation
  • If required, assistance with ID payment
  • Assistance with Birth Certificate application
  • Assistance with Alberta Health Card application
  • Assistance with proof of Canadian Residency

This program addresses the issue of breaking barriers to employment readiness and workplace access for individuals who have any type of disability and or barrier. Although these individuals are capable of employment, many will not have sustained employment or have necessary social skills to enter the workforce.

Choices Association of Fort McMurray is determine to provide extraordinary dedication, expertise and assistance to enhance quality of life, because we believe that the world can be a place that works for everyone.

The Employment Program targets individuals:

Who will be:

  • Unemployed or marginally employed (less than 15 hours per week) or under-employed (position below their education and experience)
  • Work destined for competitive labour market
  • Canadian Citizens or landed immigrants eligible to work in Canada
  • 18 years of age or older and residing in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo and with the following disabilities:
    • Addictions
    • Brain Injury
    • Cognitive/Learning Disabilities
    • Developmental Disabilities
    • Mental Health Issues
    • Physical Disabilities/Restrictions
    • Progressive / Degenerative Conditions
    • and many more

Barriers:

  • Age (50 to 64)
  • Homelessness No Alberta ID
  • Criminal record
  • Lack of education
  • No Class 5 drivers licence
  • and many more

    • Class 3 and others
  • Resume and Cover Letter Development

  • Job Placement & follow-up Support (3 to 6 months)
